Purpose

The Purpose of GSSDA’s Graduate Recognition Program is to inform new dancers about GSSDA area clubs and encourage their support of square dancing in their area by becoming active in their local Club. What is the GSSDA Graduate Recognition Program?

GSSDA Member Clubs are asked to notify the GSSDA Graduation Recognition Program Coordinator when a Mainstream Class is ready to graduate. This notification should be done by completing the GSSDA Graduation Report Form and submitting it via email.

At minimum the list of the potential Graduates and the Graduation Date should be provided. If possible, a GSSDA Board Member will attend the “Mainstream Graduation Ceremony” and welcome the new dancers to the wide world of Square Dancing. He or she will briefly explain the structure and purpose of GSSDA and other relevant square dance organizations. The GSSDA Board Representative is there to represent all GSSDA Member Clubs and should not promote one particular Club over another. The GSSDA Board Rep will invite & encourage the new graduates to attend the next GSSDA State Square Dance Convention.

First-time graduates will be given free admission to the next Georgia State Convention. Graduates will also be given a GSSDA Graduate Handbook. The GSSDA Graduate Handbook is full of valuable information of interest to the new Square Dancer.
