GSSDA Club Support & Assistance Program

Providing assistance to struggling member Clubs to assure success.

Purpose

The Purpose of the "GSSDA Club Support & Assistance Program" is to keep member clubs healthy and active by providing needed advice & assistance to assure success. The collective expertise and experience of the GSSDA Board and the GSSDA President's Council will provide advice and consultation to struggling Clubs who are having problems. Clubs tend to fail for a wide variety of reasons, and there is a good chance that someone in the organization has wrestled with and solved similar, if not the same, problems.

Description

The President of any member Club may apply for assistance by submitting a written narrative describing why this Club is deserving of GSSDA support. Once this initial contact has been made the GSSDA President (or his designee) will contact the Club to gather information regarding specific needs.

The GSSDA President will then appoint a "Support Team" with expertise in the (preliminary) identified areas of need. Members of the support team may contact area dancers and community leaders to help determine the needs of the Club. The support team will be discreet and will not air the club's dirty laundry, spread gossip or place blame.

Assistance may be financial or there may be a need in the area of event management; marketing & promotion; fund raising; facilities; technology; club organization & operations; or a combination of areas. Money is not the solution to all problems, and simply awarding grant money to cover existing Club expenses is unlikely.
