GSSDA Community Outreach Award Program

Purpose

The purpose of the "GSSDA Community Outreach Award" is to encourage Member Clubs to promote square dancing in their area by recognizing and rewarding Member Clubs that demonstrate outstanding community involvement and promotion of both their club and Square Dancing in general.

Description

Anyone (Clubs, Dancers, Dance Leaders, or the general public) may nominate a GSSDA Member Club for this award by submitting a written narrative describing why this Club is deserving of recognition. This nomination is to be submitted to the GSSDA Board by the Board established deadline.

Examples should be given about Club participation in community festivals, events, parades, etc. The narrative should describe how the Club increases the popularity and visibility of square dancing. The narrative should also explain how the Club participates in and supports and gives back to the community.

A committee of GSSDA Board Members will select the winning GSSDA Member Club from among the nominations. This award is to be announced at the GSSDA Annual Convention. Only one award will be given per year. If the Committee does not receive enough nominations or determines that there are no deserving GSSDA Member Clubs, they (Committee) may decide not to award the prize during that year. There is no requirement that the award be given every year.
